Ždiar, a fairy tale village in Slovakia

Ždiar is a beautiful place to visit in Slovakia, at any time of the year. This year we visited Ždiar to appreciate the good weather and the colourful houses that can be found there.

Ždiar is a typical Goral community situated between the mountains of Belianske Tatry and Spišská Magura. It is a tourist centre and the starting point for trips to the Belianske Tatry mountains. Ždiar is famous for its folk traditions and particular wooden houses. The houses were built in an old style with three rooms, colourful window frames, blue logs along their walls, and other logs painted with different ornaments. On special festivals, the villagers put on their folk costumes and do beautiful presentations.

In winter Ždiar offers ski slopes and ski resorts that can impress our guests at a reasonable price.
